I still think there is plenty left in Richards. He played well in the playoffs last year, and knows how to win at the NHL level.

The big problem is still that 5.75M, and no one wanted to do the Kings a favour in taking it off their hands (the Kings have holes they need to fill - they need goal scoring and they need help on D thanks to Voynov). The idea that we could possibly get Richards, a guy who can play anywhere up and down your depth at 4.75M (1M or so retained), an additional asset (good pick or prospect), and move out one of our not-so-good contracts/players (Staj or Smid specifically in my eyes) - if something like that becomes available, I'd be ecstatic to see Treliving make that move.
