No group of people are immune from bring racists, or being the victims of racism. When your life is not going well, it's human nature to look for a scapegoat. I still believe that the best way to deal with this situation is to narrow the income gap between Aboriginals and non-Aboriginals.

In Winnipeg, this is a big problem, as huge chunks of the poorest areas of the inner city are ethnically Native. If we can help them out of the vicious cycle of poverty by creating resources for them (sports, cultural centres, rec centres, and schools that emphasize native culture, etc.) it would go a long way and building up the confidence of the Native youth.

What else should we do? Throw money at them? That is not going to work. I'm all in favor of abolishing the reservations, as most look like third world countries, but its a very complicated issue. I wish I had the answer, as I have nothing but love for our Native brothers and sisters.
