I guess the more I think about this, the less I care. Plenty of people have a drink with their meals from time to time. I am of the opinion that a glass of wine or two with dinner doesn't impair peoples judgment or ability to do work. A lot of businesses allow employees to have a little Baileys in their coffee in mid-late December and things are fine. Some companies bring in beer and wine for Friday afternoons and as long as people act like adults there are no problems.
I do think that allegations of getting smashed or using illicit drugs are another matter though. Thats pretty serious, and if the mayor or Farrell have evidence or know of this, they ought to be naming names and providing the evidence. If these things happened a long time ago, why did it take so long to come out? You would think that if this was a serious concern it would be more immediate than some Christmas party 3 terms ago where one person had too much to drink.
