What bothers me most about this is how much misinformation is out there. How many of you knew the air pressure requirements for a football before this came out? I'm going to guess less than two people here did. Between that, and how many people here (and twitter, facebook, general population, etc.) are talking about it like they are experts, yet they don't even know the procedures for how a ball enters the game. There are multiple people here (and elsewhere) who thought both teams use the same ball (both teams submit their own balls), balls are random (they aren't), that Jackson said he knew the ball was light (he has said multiple times he had no idea and only found out later), that 11 of 12 balls were under inflated (that's still from the initial story, but the NFL hasn't said if that was true or not, and if true how under they were).
You have people saying Brady obviously knew because Troy Aikman and Crying Mark Brunell said they would know, but those people dismiss Joe Theismann and Dan Marino who said they couldn't tell the difference between a 12.5 and a 11.5 inflated ball, never mind during the middle of a game. There is no proof that they did anything, but more than half the people have already convicted them. Since the NFL has an investigation going into it, maybe let that play out and see what it shows before crapping on Brady and Belichick. It reminds me about the Allen Iverson practice interview, but really we're talking about balls. Not a game, but ball pressure. This is one of the most ridiculous "scandals" I've ever heard of. Seriously. Anyone who equates it to the Saints' bounties doesn't get the difference between trying to break someone's knee and the air pressure of a football. That's a shame. Jerry Rice has called out the Patriots yet he has stayed quiet on when his 49ers cheated on the salary cap while he was on the team. I wonder if he's still bitter about the Snow Bowl game.
You can bring this back to Spygate all you want. The unfortunate thing about that is taping was fine, but the location they were taping was not. To me it's like going 100 in an 60 zone. You can drive that fast, but just not in that zone. We all know how many drivers here speed and don't think it's a big deal. There was proof he broke the rules, and he was punished. The difference here is there hasn't been any definitive proof that has come out that people can show Brady and/or Belichick cheated. Just because you think something is true, doesn't mean it is.
