yeah, the whole thing has been insane. A 16-year-old making trips to European top clubs where people like Guardiola had to make "a solid impression" on the boy and his entourage, not to mention the money involved ... it's unbelievable, really. Anybody remember Freddy Adu, Bojan Krkic and all the other 16-17 year olds that stood out? Yeah, not all of them exactly became superstars ... I don't blame Odegaard one bit for signing with Real, he'd be stupid not to take that offer. It's just the football world that has gone a bit crazy it seems ...
But I admit I did laugh when I read that Odegaard quote where he said that he watched the likes of Ronaldo, Iniesta and Rooney at 16 and they also had to make the jump to become great players. Very interesting comparisons, I must say. Ronaldo made his debut in the Portuguese league when he was 17, as was Iniesta in Spain. Like Ronaldo, Rooney was 18 when he signed with United. Pretty sure none of those guys signed a 80k contract with the reigning CL champions when they were 16 ...
