I worked as a grave digger for about three years. tips are very common place but typically only came from families with very specific (very irritating) burial requests. i don't think that if you had a service and didn't tip you should be embarrassed in any way, however if you had to give the staff 'outside the box' (pardon the pun) instructions then a tip may be appropriate.
