Well you have to draw the distinction with the quality of Mp3 you are listening to. Is your MP3 collection primarily vanilla 128 kbps stuff?

I'm recently rebuilding vintage HiFi and I have about 100 records but I'll still put on Youtube playlists for a lot of music through my equipment and it sounds good or better. Where and what you play stuff back on matters almost as much as the original source material sometimes. There's a reason Neil Young brought people into his car to listen to Pono. He has a high end system in his car and the car acts like a sound booth.
