You continue to play him because of the message it sends and the message it would send if you otherwise sent him down. That part is obvious. Good lord, look at who we are up against here coming up and the importance of those games. You absolutely need the hot hand and someone playing with confidence.
Hiller has been hot garbage lately, and Ramo would be coming in cold as ice. No way Jose.
Now, Gio called him Kipper. And the fact is he looks like our future now in net. So the not-so-obvious part, is what to do with Hiller/Ramo. IMO which goalie is better is up for debate but Ramo makes less and is probably equally as good if not better so you roll the dice and deal Hiller while there's a market for him and his cap space.
The one argument to that is well what if we get in the playoffs, what if someone gets hurt, what if we need that third goalie, etc. But every so often you need to take a chance, and this opportunity won't come along often. Hell we weren't even supposed to be near a playoff spot and if we don't make it in, we don't make it in. You don't pass on this opportunity to move a goalie now however.
