You trade him because
a) Dubnyk is a pending UFA
b) You're done. you aren't making the playoffs
c) Someone was willing to pay a third round pick for your backup goaltender
This trade is pure win for the Coyotes. As said above, the pick is found money. It cost them nothing to acquire Dubnyk.
For the Wild, this is a product of being in a tough spot. They needed to do something,
anything to try and right the ship. Problem is, they are just about done as well, so losing a third rounder for almost nothing is going to hurt a little in the end.
