The pieces are there:
-good forward group with some skill
-really good defense on the top end, not familiar with the bottom end
-goalies at least with a history of being good
As for goaltending, I've watched a few wild games and I don't know what the answer is. I always hesitate to believe that a goalie suddenly sucks. Even when kipper had bad years, there were structural issues leading to higher quality chances.
I guess what I'm saying is: something is wrong. They have the ingredients to be a playoff team, minus goaltending and confidence. Both of those can be due to structural (either personnel or system) or team dysfunction. Changing coaches is the likeliest to help there IMO
