This is Treliving's first real move from his old wheelhouse of asst gm and talent searcher for the Coyotes. He would have had a good book on him from that position, and by acquiring a guy that he has to deem NHL ready to acquire its potentially his first "real" move as a GM. (clearly UFA signings are a stamp, but less of a "call" then picking up Shore.
If Shore becomes a mainstay it will look good on him for a long long time.
The prospect rankings ... love having those prospect rankings in our back pocket every season. They come in handy. The Oiler deal for Smid when we could claim we shipped out prospeccts 11 and 17 for a sturdy 5/6 dman versus the Oiler view that Calgary traded top prospects is a handy thing to have.
in this case its prospect #14 at risk for acquiring an NHL ready player, and the guy was #8 the summer before and falling.
