You have two centres next year that are well ahead of his talents. Jooris should be better next year and then you have Granlund who will be a year older. That's 5 guys competing for 3 center positions, if you believe Stajan and his contract are 4th line from now til retirement?
As long as they don't move 1 of the other 4 out to make room for Backs, who is still a candidate for injury - I'll be happy. And, Happy to see him have to compete for his position, something he didn't do since arriving. |

In all seriousness, I'm not sure Stajan will stay the entire length of his current contract, which opens up a spot for Jooris as a 4th line center, but he's certainly capable at right wing. Granlund may not end up as a center in the NHL unless he drastically improves his face-offs. In any case, I would put Backlund ahead of all 3 of those guys on any depth chart for the foreseeable future.
