To reiterate what I said earlier, Knight is in a nearly identical situation in Florida as he was here, stuck behind better players at the NHL level. Panthers have 2 studs in Barkov and Bjugstad, a veteran signed to a long term deal that is very nearly untradeable in Bolland, and then several solid prospects who have shown more in the NHL to this point, mostly Trocheck who seems to have permanently made the jump. Also Jayce Hawryluk and Kyle Rau are nice prospects who are on their way. Knight is likely a career AHLer or tweener, but he could make the jump to at least be a 4th line center if he improves just a little bit.
Shore coming back the other way is definitely worth more than a bag of pucks, and most certainly isn't a doofus (nor is Knight). I think he could step in very soon and be a solid 3rd line center, or 4th behind Stajan when he's going well. He is a moderately better player than Knight, but he's not the second coming of Gretzky or anything. A good player that might fit well on the right wing if we can't find a spot for him at center.
Markus looks a little lost out there and clearly needs some more seasoning in the AHL, but he's close. Jooris looks destined to stick as a bottom 6 player, either at center or wing, but he could fall off just as quickly as he arrived on the scene. We won't know for sure until he plays the full season.
Shore is a player that fits a need, and might only be a stop gap until we get some higher level prospects in his position, but he can play in the NHL and he does things well at both ends of the ice. Not sure what there is to dislike about this move.
