“I was never lucky enough to be on a Stanley Cup winner, so the 1972 series to me was my Stanley Cup. It was one of the more memorable events in my life.”

Until recently, Parisé was the hockey director at Shattuck-St. Mary’s School. Under Parisé’s tutelage, the school that managed to produce future hockey stars such as Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Toews, Kyle Okposo and Jack Johnson.

“We were at the school…and I would interview all the kids who came there, including Jonathan Toews and Sidney Crosby and those guys, and I would say, ‘If you’re going to come to Shattuck, there are three things that have to be in line: You have to work hard in school; you have to work hard on the ice; and you’ve got to be a good guy. All three. If one is missing, I don’t want you,’” explained Parisé. “So they all got that same message, and if you look at the kids who are playing the National Hockey League, who went to Shattuck-St. Mary’s, they’re all good, solid guys.”
