Bump, don't know where to put this but went to the game in Regina last night and was able to focus solely on Kanzig because Klimchuck had already been shipped out of town.
The guy is a man playing with boys out there! Because he is so big he actually needs to partially bend over to hit a player which puts him in a very awkward position. During the game he didn't really stand out, he is going to be your basic stay at home style defenceman. I don't see much upside on production but lets face it, that has never been his game.
Although he covers a large area it does look like he needs to continue working on his skating, he never got beat by anyone but he did have to use his stick to reach more than I would like to see(when a body on body check or rub out would have been suffice)
But for those who simply label him a goon, I say go watch the kid play, he is anything but a goon. It looks like he actually knows that his size could be dangerous at this level and dials it down some so as to not hurt the opposing player. He's still got a long ways to go but give him time to fully adjust to his body, get into the pro game against men and then we will truly know what we have.
