He's a Palace legend as a player and the Newcastle fans have been crapping on him most of the year - also he has a pretty huge transfer budget in January as they have spent very little money in their year and half in the premier league. I know he's no world beater but that is really good news for Palace to get it done quickly and get someone experienced in, their earlier job hunt after Pulis walked out at the 11th hour was a comedy, they focused on Mackay and backed out after it came out that he is a racist but had alienated Sherwood who removed himself from contention.
And even if they head down, which could very well happen, I've heard he committed to stay with the club in the championship which is vital - Warnock is almost 70 and he would have been gone and abandoned that fight.
Plus Warnock was such a bad manager, all good for Palace.
