I think the point being (or at least how I'd take the point) is that even on a site like this, who's collective membership certainly is full of smart hockey fans, that having polarizing / passionate opinions like the ones quoted in regards to draft picks and prospects, especially ones taken in the 4th round is ridiculous.

As good as the hockey knowledge on this board is, I'd wager there is at most, 5 or less posters that would have enough data and seen enough JG hockey prior to draft (and also have the ability to understand how NCAA hockey could translate to an NHL level) to even have any kind of opinion about that pick (either way). Yet everyone comes around passionately hating or liking picks based on what boils down to nothing. People get fired up over something they heard from some talking head, or how some poll ranks a player, or something stupid like at draft day he weighed 137 lbs. Sometimes it would be better if we all just took a step back and admitted we really don't have the knowledge, skill or information about these type of things to really have an sort of valid opinion on the topic.

Outside of opinions as it translates to the actual NHL Flames and the players currently playing on the Flames, the actual ability for the average poster even on here a top notch Flames message board to have strong opinions on anything going on with our farm team, or with our prospects or with potential draft picks in junior and NCAA drops off significantly and fast the further you go from day to day NHL action (just in case people were wondering, I'm including myself in this). Not saying there aren't some on here who truly know their stuff at the lower levels, but there aren't many of them. Yet, as that clip of posts shows, people still freak out and go mental over things they are in no position to understand or have such visceral opinions on, but they still do.
