For current MBPs you're out of luck afaik. The RAM is soldered onto the motherboards and can't be upgraded, and the SSDs aren't soldered on but use a proprietary connector.

If it's not a brand new one, the upgrade options will vary depending on what model, you'd have to post the model # to be able to tell for sure.
Samsung SSDs are great the new 850's use 3D NAND to increase storage while staying on larger lithography (bigger transistors) meaning the drives are more durable.

But depending on what model your laptop is you might have to stick with mSATA or might not be able to upgrade at all.
EDIT: I'd put Samsung up there with Intel at this point, they're pretty impressive right now.
