Its a plague in this sport, its shameful and ruins what otherwise is a beautiful game. So many fans loathe it but feel helpless in dealing with it, because FIFA is such an old boys club, a massive bureaucracy that seems to tackle issues at the pace of an especially old snail.

The NHL however, good or bad, does take issues and deal with them quicker than most leagues. They are willing to try out new things, test them in the juniors and make their mind up about it.

If you had to be a fan for Liverpool in Soccer, try one season and see how much diving and embellishment is ruining an otherwise great sport.
The rules written in soccer are there but the problem are the refs.

A) Refs don't call fouls unless the player falls which is ridiculous. For example we are running for the ball and I grab your shirt or arm. Unless you fall the refs won't call it. So players have to fall.

B) Refs put up with faking injuries and wasting time. There should be way more yellow cards for that stuff.

Remember in soccer they are playing on cleats and not skates. If a player is being fouled, it's usually easier to just fall over then to try and fight it. Studs might get caught and cause leg injuries. But the rolling around after the falling over is a joke.

I like the fines in hockey but they really should hit teams with powerplays. Call diving by itself more often.

Edit: like how Borini just got red carded for arguing.
