The NHL season is long and gruelling. Our early success was based around blazing speed and high-pressure forechecking (and some excellent goaltending and miraculously good play from Giordano and Brodie). It was probably inevitable that this style of play would catch up to us, as the guys must be pretty worn-out.
We've certainly gotten slower and sloppier in the last 8 games. Perhaps Colborne, Raymond and Stajan came back too soon, but the fact is it's not only their return that has slowed us down. Everyone else has slowed down as well.
Tough game against LA on Monday and then the boys have 4 days off. Let's hope the turkey dinners can regenerate some of the mojo we had going for the 1st 2 months of the season.
