I don't know if I would go as far as saying that one is more talented than the other. It's an arguement that could go on forever but you have to recognize that it was pretty much Cobain who ended the popularity of glam/hairspray metal and for that alone he is a god in my books. The ability to play guitar and sing in a three piece and sound that full is an impressive talent in itself. Too bad he had so many difficulties in life.
