I've thought this every time I watch the show too. There are tons and tons of perfectly fine normal drivers who would bomb a lot of those challenges. They take people who are terrible at normal driving and ask them to do extreme maneuvers you very rarely, if ever have to do on the road. Of course it's more interesting and better entertainment, but it's also a little unfair and doesn't help them become better drivers.
