So many of you aren't aware of what's going on here.

Sony may have pulled the film, but it was only after exhibitors refused to open it. All the major theatre companies decided to refuse to open the film over safety concerns with regard to their employees and customers.

You can think that's stupid all you want, but that shooting when the Dark Knight opened did effect the opening weekend for that movie with some people electing to stay away.

If the release of the Interview went through amidst threats to theatres (no matter how real or hollow those threats are) attendance over the holidays would drop.

That is one of the busiest times of year for the box office, and 2014 is already one of the worst years for ticket sales in nearly a decade.

Easy to say the theatres are in the wrong for refusing to play this movie, but at the end of the day they don't want to see their numbers suffer at a vital time of year in what's already been a dismal year.

It was an easy decision for them to make.
