i remember last year when the avs were surprising everyone, my thoughts were the real test is when some of their big guns hit a wall/slump and if they are able to fight thru or let the slumps eat away at their playoff chances. They were able to keep their stretch going, without any major hiccups in their push for a playoff spot.
The flames have hit a slump. shooting % down (not generating enough opportunities and/or a cashing in on chances), save % down, likely a function of less consistent goaltending but also our d have started struggling and making more and more mistakes. Ironically speaking, they are actually as a whole playing as good, likely better, than they were while they were winning. So one may argue that some dumb luck may have had more to do with the winning than anything else. Naturallly, the team isn't going to continue the winless trend, but they're not going to go back to the winning % that was observed over the first 25 games either.
Their likely somewhere in the middle, now whether that's a 0.500 run, or slightly better/worse. I'd be surprised if they are a lot worse than a 0.500 team.
