One flaw that corsi has is that there is no context for the situation for the shots.
Usually a team that gets an early lead is content to sit back a bit and try to play good defensively and allow their own offensive chances grow organically instead of activating the defense and taking risks. In situations like that, the losing team will actually win the corsi battle despite being the inferior team.
If you were to have context like say the corsi stats for when a game is tied, when up a goal, when up 2+ when down a goal and when down 2+ would make a lot more sense.
That way you could parse out which players are actually contributing when the game is on the line (tied) vs when the game is out of hand (down 2+)
Even then it's still not fully perfect, but it would a little more helpful.
