Buffalo doesn't need cap space, and Stewart is a UFA after this year, so swapping contracts only make sense if they get an upgrade at a position. Setoguchi wouldn't do that.
The Flames would have to give up a prospect in order to acquire Stewart, and that wouldn't make sense from the Flames point of view unless they see this prospect as having a low chance at making the NHL.
I wouldn't trade any of our Goalie or Defense prospects for Stewart.
Trading Max Reinhart as part of a package may make sense, but straight-up for Stewart is a terrible idea. Even though our C depth is big, Reinhart could be used as a piece in a better trade or even converted into a 3rd/4th line winger who could play in the NHL.
