I know that the CBC is 'independent' from government control (though there are people here who will tell you they're a mouthpiece for the Liberals, I don't really know/care about it).

The point I was trying to make, and said, was that it's an interesting time/place for this kind of piece in relation to the US election. From an American's point of view, who doesn't have the same type of view of the CBC as we do (their concept of public broadcasting is PBS) they could see it as a government mouthpiece. It's not a stretch from a foreign angle by any means. Why would you think they have the same concept of the CBC as you do?
