Diabetes and Genetics
Hello All,
I just had a quick question and was looking to see if anyone on the forum could help me out.
Ok so I have a scenario and wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this.
Here is the scenario:
Set 1
A set of parents have three kids. One of the parents (mother) is type 1 diabetic and the other parent does not have any history of diabetes. The eldest of the three children was born prior to the parent getting diabtes. The other two children were born after the parent got diabtes. The parent was also over the age of 25 (I have heard this makes a difference). None of the children have diabetes to date.
Set 2
Another set of parents, have two kids. Both of the parents have diabetes. The mother has type 1 diabtes and the father has borderline type 2. Both the kids were born before the parents were diagnosed with diabetes. Neither of the kids have diabetes to date.
Now let's say if one of the children from parents set 1 and one of the children from parents set 2 get married and have kids. Is there a high risk for their offspring to get diabetes?
Thanks for the help!
