Treleving has done nothing for me to like or dislike him so far. A few "meh" signings and an awesome Brodie extension / Hiller signing have me leaning towards a positive opinion. Someone else pointed out, however, you don't have to make big moves all the time to be a great GM. Taking his time to assess the team before pulling the trigger was a great move; one I'm sure many new managers eager to make their mark likely bypass. Losing out on one of our young impact players, or moving one of them in a larger package just before they made the jumps we have seen would have been very disheartening for this team.

Personally, I feel we see who Treleving is as a GM at the upcoming deadline. Management of our current assets (Glencross, our tender tandem, upcoming surge of LW/C prospects) and whatever picks/skaters/prospects come our way should give us a much stronger view of where our brain trust sees this club. The next two summers give Brad a chance to really chisel the identity of this team long-term, and I strongly feel the Brodie contract is an excellent cornerstone.

Off topic, really glad to see Burke recently giving Feaster credit, as I always felt the Weisbroad / Feaster / Hartley trio would do some awesome things for us. I can understand why Jay was let go given the circumstances and (likely) a poor reputation around the league.

It all still feels too good to be true.. The kid in me doesn't want to jinx it, but it really does feel like we have surpassed what is fast approaching decade of no good up north in 18 months. Starting with identity and then adding talent is looking to be the far superior approach than.. Whatever the hell it is they've been trying up there.

Unrelated again.. Wonder if Iginla wishes he only took one year in Colorado?
