All these people complaining about the Bollig, Setoguchi, Raymond acqusitions just don't understand the point of them.

They were designed to create a competitive environment that forces the young players to compete and "earn" their ice time and that is exactly what has happened.

By contrast, the Oilers did the exact opposite and left spots open for their young players and look what that has gotten them.

Furthermore, the Bollig and Engelland acquisitions were designed to create a sense of security for the young players. I haven't seen too many liberties taken against the young Flames. Other teams know that they will have to answer the bell if they try and intimidate the Flames.
