I honestly don't see anything wrong with saying that the average American viewer was not interested in Arrested Development for laughs. When you look at the kinds of shows that are popular on television these days, they're all the same cookie cutter, canned crap that is not offensive to anyone and isn't willing to explore anything other than "what works."

The fact of the matter is that Arrested Development was a smartly written show that takes you four or five views to completely notice everything in it, and that's not "what works" in television in the United States right now.

As for my favourite moments... I have to agree with EG about all the blue on the walls in the second season. There is just more and more of it and you only notice it once in a while. Tobias' slip and fall after Lucille was spilling her drink had me in tears, and the "Those are balls" line was one of the funniest deliveries I've ever heard. Not to mention some of the absolutely crass comments like Lucille saying "Everyone loves the Jews." And all the guest stars... ugh, why did it have to get cancelled?

Tobias was defitinely my favourite...

"Looks like I Blue myself too soon!"
"I'm on....T...V.."
"Do these effectively hide my thunder?"

And shooting the floor when he was a mall security guard... AHAHAHAAA

I still watch all of the DVDs regularly and laugh harder and harder each time.

I recommend that anyone who loves Tobias check out David Cross' comedy CDs. Absolutely hilarious! His electric scissors bit is brilliant!
