Like I said, Ferland has more offensive potential long term (IMO), but he doesn't have a goal yet. Bouma has 5 goals and 4 assists (This year). He has shown more offensive potential at the NHL level so far.
Either way, they shouldn't be in competition for the same spot. If Ferland sticks he should be playing on the 3rd line or higher.
Bouma already fills our need on the 4th line.
