High "vanity number" are generally a holdover from junior or lower when guys were announcing "I'm a scorer and want to stand out from the crowd of regular players!", which is contrary to the team succeeding on hard work and sacrifice attitude that they're trying to instill on the Flames.
I know there's some BS reason about "the value of brand recognition" but if being a 5 instead of a 50 is the difference between a player being happy or not, then he's got some terrible character issues to begin with.

By the same token, if 5 instead of 50 is the difference between the PHO being happy or not, then does he also have some character issues?
