his new contract won't start until 2016 in either case though. In 2015, his cap hit is 4.025
if the cap is 72m, the floor is ~53.2m. If the cap is 74m, the floor is ~54.8m. So the Flames will have to spend at least ~7m to reach the cap which shouldn't be hard exercise. You re-sign Backlund, Ramo and Bouma and you're probably over the floor already ... even without any bigger UFA acquisition, I guess the Flames will reach ~57-60m quite easily.
