I guess all I meant was that I'm more interested in what the doctors have to say about his health than Bennett himself. Because he'd go out there on one leg seemingly, while telling everyone it was just a flesh wound.

It's a whole different ball game at the NHL level, especially since the injury was fully diagnosed and surgery was performed. I believe he was flown to the US for the surgery at the hands of one of the top specialists in the world dealing with that particular injury.
Now that he's recovering and rehabbing, he's in Calgary under strict supervision of the team's medical staff and specialists, along with the rehab he's doing.
It just seemed really odd to suggest he might be left to his own devices and that the Flames might not be fully apprised of his progress when the entire reason he's in Calgary is to be under supervision by the Team's medical staff.
I think it's safe to say he's in good hands.
