Seriously, to anyone who took a stats class above the 100 level, hockey advanced stats are a joke. If you don't get it, take a 500 or 600 level advanced stats class. You'll laugh at this bull#### too.

That's one of the biggest knocks against the hockey analytic movement I think, the severe lack of anyone that has post secondary education in statistics. Look at "Department of Hockey Analytics" and their article in the Star today about the media not looking at Flames under lying stats when praising them.
They're a former player agent and lawyer, a economics professor, and a former high stakes poker player and litigator. Their backgrounds don't given them nearly enough credibility to make claims such "Many journalists (and coaches and fans) have a hard time separating results from actual performance, probably because they don’t realize just how big a role randomness/luck plays over a 20 (or 40 or even 80) game span."
