It's not all about McDavid. If McDavid wasn't in this draft, people would be gushing about Eichel as a franchise player. Scouts are more excited about him than any prospect not named McDavid in years.
So if the Oilers finish last, they still have a 100 per cent change of drafting a player widely regarded as a franchise player. Way better prospect than any of the guys they drafted with their previous #1 picks, and probably better than Stamkos or Tavares.
