I was a main tank for MC, BWL, etc. during the vanilla era. Ended up with class lead duties as well and did a bunch of grooming and teaching.
One of the warriors was a Canadian as well and raided with him a lot, no drama or problems from him at all. His wife and son also played in game. Time passes and guilds change and people drift apart. I played here and there over the various expansions.
A bunch of years back (and obviously since those original vanilla days) I hear through social media that
he and his wife got into a huge domestic dispute, he struck her, the son stepped in and broke it up, and then he apparently went to the basement and killed himself with a gun.
. . .
I still have a difficult trying to reconcile the times gaming with the people in that family and what happened the years afterwards. I guess it is no different than in real life where people change over the years and you don't see or chat with them everyday.
