Looking back at the 2011 NHL Draft.
Gaudreau is the highest point per game player in the draft (clearly small sample size of only 26 games), ahead of Nugent Hopkins at the top by .005.
He's ranked as the 19th highest point producer out of that draft thus far.
By the end of the year if all players continue to produce at their current PPG pace, Gaudreau will be the 13th highest scoring player selected in that draft.
By the end of next year if all players continue to produce at their current PPG pace, Gaudreau will be the 8th highest scoring player selected in that draft.
By the end of Two full seasons after this year if all players continue to produce at their current PPG pace, Gaudreau will be the 5th highest scoring player selected in that draft.
I'm guessing in 5 years he NH and Landeskog are at the top. Will he catch those guys? Gaudreau doesn't look like he's found that top gear yet.
Oh and interesting to point out ... the 8th highest PPG player in the draft is Granlund. He will be top 20 in scoring by the end of this year if he produces and plays all the games. 16th by the end of next season.
