I have to admit that my enthusiasm for this decreased a little bit, not because the trailer is bad or disappointing, but because the last two days has been absolutely tough and crushing, but I also have to admit that this 1:31 trailer did make me smile for the first time in what seems like forever.

As far as the trailer goes, case frankly we're here to discuss Star Wars was interesting without giving away much.

As far as the look of it goes, its exciting to see, however two things stood out, things were a little too shiny. What was cool about the prequels was that things were shiny and bright at the start, but by the end had a stark plain look. The original trilogy everything had a bit of a frayed and battered and straight forward look. In this one everything was back to being bright. I guess where it stood out the most was that the Falcon almost looked like it had a new paint job and upgrade.

When i first saw the new Stormtrooper helmets months ago, I didn't take to them to much, they went to far to the droid side for me. But I'm still a fan of the throwback clone helmets with the raked fin. But when you put those helmets on the updated Stormtrooper helmet and the new rifles, They had a mean, intimidating look that didn't have the old skull look of the original troopers. they also looked a lot more functional. from an infantry mans point of view, I wouldn't want a bright red light on my rifle but whatever.

The other visual thing that really stood out were the new X-Wings, that have a stubbier wing assembly to them it also looks like the S-Foils unfold differently then the old X-Wings. The X-Wings screaming over the water made my heart pulse.

The ongoing debate by Star Wars fans is going to be the light sabre being held by the shrouded figure. Through 6 movies, countless TV shows and a Christmas special we've seen light sabres that have almost a foil or Katana look to them. This light sabre looks more like a medieval broadsword. Its a cool change to an old design. But it will be interesting to see if the welder uses a different more power base style.

Some other things that I've noticed.

This trailer is much smaller in scale then other trailers that we've seen. There aren't any massive sets, or even any views of space or massive star ships or fleets . Its very simple. Its also mostly focused on what looks like Tatooine as far as recognizable planets. But that's ok because lets be honest, the whole trilogy is based around Tatooine even more then it is around any other planet.

Max Von Sydow's voice of menace with a slight scottish lilt was interesting as was the simple message. "There has been an awakening, have you felt it? The dark side and the light". I started wondering if there were unintended consequences to the whole prophesy of bringing balance to the force, and if it was centered on one person. Maybe bringing balance to the force wasn't a good thing.

As far as the cloaked figure, is it Sith? Or is it something different. I was hoping that we wouldn't see a return of the Sith too soon, as the Death of Palpatine and or Vader should have signaled the end of the Sith line.

The other thing that I found really interesting that we get a glimpse at only three charactes, Daisy Ridley I think Domhall Gleeson and John Boyaga. I found that interesting because there wasn't a single glimpse of the original trilogy characters at all.

The long glimpse of the soccer ball droid was weird to say the least, not sure if that wasn't just some massive troll.

But they gave little away unless you want to make guesses.

Overall very excited to see, it will be interesting to see where it goes from here.
