That's a rather crass attitude. The mental state of people who are suicidal doesn't tend to lead to the clear choice of trying to get help.
I'd say that it's a selfish action, but that the state of mind is not one inducive to making the right decision. You probably don't see anything that will help you with your problems, or have tried clinical help and you're still in the state you're in. There's a lot more than just refusing to get help.
