Well, also if the Flames had traded Seto they could have presumably retained half of his salary, but most teams can afford a league minimum contract and if they cant its unlikely that half of league minimum is going to make much of a difference.
Further, why would a team spend assets (presumably picks) on someone they could have had for free via waivers?
Unfortunately for Seto, nobody wants him and that is a tough pill to swallow. His options right now seems to be limited to: Kick ass and take names in the AHL and earn a callup or play his contract out and see what next year brings.
