I honestly don't know. They're dealing from a position of extreme weakness, and at the end of the day, the return likely doesn't matter. Whoever would come back the other day would just be ruined by this franchise anyway.

That's the challenge. They are probably both far better than they are currently showing.
However:
1) it's a risk and by no means a certainty that either one of them is going to be anything close to the player they were originally projected to be
2) they both carry cap hits that are more commensurate with their
potential than their current reality, and
3) the Oilers are trading from a position of weakness.
Honestly, if I were the Oilers, I would be thinking that the best I could do would be a swap of 'potential', along with having to eat some bad contracts.
For me, Phaneuf for those two would be a good trade but I think Toronto would still want more.
