As good as that win felt, I agree. What's that old saying, "you start playing badly before you start losing", or something like that.
That said, I think falling behind two goals three games in a row now, I'm pretty sure the team is not ignoring their warts. This just doesn't seem like that kind of team.
I'm also somewhat comforted by the stat that our team is about as high in the standings based on points (7th) as it is in goal differential (8th). That's middle of the pack out of playoff teams, which would be a great ending to the regular season.
That doesn't seem at all like outlandish target right now, which is fantastic given how much we are relying on youth and the number of key injuries.
In other notes,
- Baertchi-Knight-Setoguchi only got 6-7 minutes of TOI. Can't fault the result, but Baertchi especially had a ton of hussle. Unless I missed some blunder, Baertchi seemed to have a very good game actually.
- Great game Glencross. Seemed to have a lot more energy than previously. (Possibly injuries are easing up?)
- The way Monahan plays, he looks like one of the veterans.
- Not that Rämö was bad, but the recent lack of great games out of our goaltenders is slightly disappointing.
- Credit to the Devils, they played a good game. They also seemed to have a good plan on how to play against us, and that's something we should expect more as the season progresses. We're back at a level where other teams will pay attention to the way we play and make adjustments to beat us.
- Jagr is a treat to watch. They seem to have good chemistry with Cammalleri too.
