However, if you were a crusty old geezer like me, you would realize that nothing could ever compare to April 4, 1986.

The Oilers were unbeatable that year. In their first seven games, the Flames had gone 0-6-1 against Team Gretzky. Nobody expected anything different going into the final BoA of the regular season.

Final score that night: Flames 9, Oilers 3.

It was then that I realized that the Flames really could beat the Oilers. As they did in seven games later that spring (with a little help from Steve Smith).

April 4 was the night the Battle of Alberta changed forever. Up to then, it had been a one-sided slaughter. After that, the Flames would never lie down and die for the Oilers again.

Back on topic: That Flames team suffered a ton of injuries, but pulled through because of amazing depth and a never-say-die attitude — just like this one. Terrific finish to this game, like so many others!
I'll always remember this game, I lined up for 7 hrs and never got a ticket. They ran out of tickets 5 people in front of me...

Was a great game on the ol TV set!
