This is an instance in which the statistics do not tell the whole story. The reason why McGrattan's plus/minus is better (the only stat of his as far as I can see that could be considered better) is because there are only an extremely limited number of in-game situations in which he can actually play. Setuguchi has been in more games, logged substantially more ice time, and played in more situations which have affected his own numbers. By virtue of the fact that he is a passable skater, he is already a better player than McGrattan, because at least Setoguchi can then theoretically log a regular shift in a game. McGrattan cannot.
To be clear, both are not NHL players. McGrattan likely never will be one again, but at least Setoguchi has the raw materials to perhaps one day fid his way back.
