My cat is a member of my family. I would do whatever it takes to ensure that she lives a happy and healthy life. The only way I would ever euthanize her is if I've exhausted every single available opportunity to provide her with that healthy life.
I personally would never trivialize a cat's life to the point where it was only worthwhile to keep it around if it continued to serve my pleasure.
