I don't know the financials, but it is possible that it is just cheaper to put players in hotels than maintain condo(s) for just players in transition. and would it make sense to have that condo when in all practicality it will be mostly empty for a good chunk of the year

Yeah this is true, hiring a cleaning company, paying condo fees, property tax and utilities probably makes it just all around easier to do hotels. Especially if they've got existing hotel partners they know they can rely on.
