From an isolated asset management perspective, I understand that. However these are people who think about the future, about building the team beyond just this season. Despite how professional Hartley is when he insists that his future contract will not affect his current job, believe me, it affects him and it affects the players approach to his systems especially.
Beyond that, I think a good chunk of CP here simply likes what he's done, and thinks the contract is good for both the team and for the guy as a person.
