And yet it appears to have caught you completely off gaurd, unless your thinking going into it: "I know at some point this dog will get unhealthy, at which point i will kill it." You killed your dog when it got to a point where you couldn't buy your kids as nice of clothes as you'd like (if you went second hand, you could outfit each kid for $100 each, and have a living pet). It didn't sound like you were facing getting a second mortgage.
Not your fault? Everything you've posted in this thread paints you as an indifferent and ignorant pet owner. I'm hardly convinced.
